Practice Overview

My practice is devoted to reproductive endocrinology: the treatment of patients with infertility, pregnancy loss, female endocrine problems, menopausal management, and other reproductive disorders. I have extensive experience and expertise in performing and teaching minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and mini-laparotomy) for endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic adhesions, tubal disease, ovarian cysts, congenital abnormalities, and other benign pelvic disease.

I believe that each patient requires a personalized approach to diagnosis and treatment. I strive to make my practice more personal and less sterile than many in this field. My staff works hard to create a family-like environment and to treat everyone as they would like to be treated themselves. I feel this is the most conducive way to ease the stressors associated with the treatment of infertility.  The most important part of the process is to give everyone hope, encouragement, and support throughout their journey.

Infertility is not an isolated, medical problem. It involves the whole mind, body, and spirit and requires a multi-dimensional approach. We endeavor to create a friendly, quiet, and calming office experience. We offer in-clinic psychological support, individual and group support and counseling. We encourage and provide access to ancillary support services, including stress management, nutritional counseling, mind-body wellness services, yoga, lifestyle management, exercise counseling, and acupuncture.

In 1986, I founded the first private in-vitro fertilization (IVF) program in Houston at the Obstetrical and Gynecological Associates (OGA) and the Woman’s Hospital of Texas. The Fertility Specialists of Houston (FSH) was the first Reproductive Endocrinology group in Houston and was the first IVF program in the Southwest to be certified by the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). FSH’s devotion to patient care, involvement in research, and clinical innovation allows us to remain at the top of the field and to be able to offer the latest technology advancements in endocrinology and fertility treatment for our patients. All fertility evaluation and IVF procedures are performed within our outpatient clinic facilities.

I graduated from Rice University in Houston, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and completed post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Regional Medical Center (NRMC) in Oakland, California. I received Fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology at NRMC, Oakland, and at the University of California at San Francisco. I returned to Houston in 1981 to begin the private practice of gynecology, infertility and reproductive endocrinology. I am a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), European Society for Human Reproductive Endocrinology (ESHRE), Canadian Fertility Society (CFAS), a founding member of the Society of Assistive Reproductive Technology, and a founding member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), among other professional societies and organizations.
